I abandoned the old tomato garden and just planted in the perennial garden this year, helter-skelter. It worked really well. Well, except for that night a deer came and ate all my pepper plants. I carefully covered everything with deer netting and checked it all the time - but somehow that night the peps were exposed, and munch! Gone, all of them, the next day.
But great tomatoes this year - lots of them, completely pesticide-free, and still coming. And basil, and sage. Have made sauce already, too....
